The Art of Innovation:
How do you get the coconut from the tree?
Having a coconut tree in our backyard is a blessing,
And this is the inspiration for today’s poetry writing.
Drinking coconut water on a Saturday morning is always a treat,
However the process of getting it proved to be a huge feat.
This coconut tree stands on the edge of a hill,
To obtain every picked coconut required some skill.
Engel would be at the top on a ladder doing the picking,
While I would be on the ground, doing the gathering.
Many Saturdays passed by and this was our routine,
However a change was needed in this coconut picking scene.
The grass at the bottom of the hill began to grow,
And into these bushes, to retrieve coconuts, I’d have to go.
This definitely was not the fun part,
Especially when the grass itching gave a start.
From what we were doing should we cease and desist,
Or change our perspective in order to persist.
This is where the art of innovation came in,
Enabling coconut picking to our fancy and whim.
With a rope we created a make shift pulley,
Now Amanda’s gathering job was made easy.
With rope tied to the coconut stem then passed over the branch,
I slowly lowered what used to be a coconut avalanche.
This challenged my muscles a tiny bit,
However it was a plus on my road to becoming fit.
Coconut picking was definitely redefined,
Through the efforts of Engel and Amanda, combined.
For those who may be in a challenging situation,
I encourage you to employ the art of innovation.

He urges the audience to Rethink, Redefine and Recreate.
