7 Tips You Should Be Aware Of 

Did you show your eyes some love today, 

So that your vision can have a healthy display? 

Here are some points to keep at your fingertips, 

To improve the health of your eye relationship. 

 

Protect your eyes from the sun’s ultraviolet rays, 

By wearing a sunglasses on those brilliantly, sunny days. 

Choose a pair which gives 100% ultraviolet protection, 

And wrap around lenses which block glare from your peripheral vision. 

 

To smoking these have a direct connection,  

Cataracts, optic nerve damage or macular degeneration. 

Smoking is an unhealthy habit you should get rid of, 

If you really want to show your eye some love. 

 

We should all seek to maintain good nutrition, 

As it can ward off age related problems of vision. 

Impaired retinal function can occur with vitamin deficiency, 

So choose a well-balanced diet to maximize its efficiency. 

 

A yearly comprehensive eye examination,

Can serve as the platform for early detection and intervention.

If you’re around the age of forty, schedule an appointment,

So that your doctor can make a proper assessment.

 

When work or sports can compromise your eyes’ safety,

Wear safety glasses or protective goggles as necessary.

Have lack of proper protective eyewear as its history.

 

You should be aware of your family’s health history,

As some chronic conditions are hereditary.

They can place you at risk for eye disease,

And most commonly are hypertension and diabetes.

 

Know the difference between an ophthalmologist, optometrist and optician,

They each have an important, but different, role and function.

It’s a lot of O’s for you to be aware,

But of the three an ophthalmologist can give the most advanced care.

 

Your eyes are one of your most valuable and irreplaceable assets,

Protect them by whatever means, so that you'll have no regret.

You really should place priority on your eyes’ care,

So that they'll look out for you way past the last gray of your hair.
